Sarnia vs Kitchener Preview (Feb. 10/19)

Feb 10, 2019
2 min read

The Sarnia Sting are looking to rebound from a loss against the Guelph Storm last night.

The Sting are 23-24-5-2 this season, and are sixth place in the Western Conference with only fourteen games to play before the playoffs. Kitchener, who Sarnia is playing this afternoon, is in seventh place and have a 24-24-3-0 record, which puts them only two points behind Sarnia. If Sarnia wins, they will be four points (or three if the game goes to overtime or a shootout) ahead of Kitchener and only a point behind Owen Sound for fifth place.

The Sting have won three out of their last five games, and are coming off of a loss to Guelph last night. The Rangers have also won three out of their last five, but lost to Hamilton on Friday night. This season, the Sting have gone 1-1-0-1 against Kitchener, losing their first two contests 4-3 and 6-5, but then they won 7-4 on November 20th of this season.

Kitchener has a couple of big scorers who the Sting will have to closely defend if they want to limit the number of goals being scored against them this afternoon. Greg Meireles has 64 points, Riley Damiani has 59, Rickard Hugg has 56, Joseph Garreffa has 54, and Jonathan Yantsis has 37 goals and 54 points.

Lately, the Sarnia Sting have been heavily advertising Esports at the Hive presented by Lambton College, who recently installed a large Esports facility. This afternoon, they will have numerous gaming stations around the concourse. This should increase the numbers of fans in attendance, so it should be a great atmosphere this afternoon.

Puck drop is set for 2:05pm in Sarnia at PASA.
