Sarnia vs Windsor Preview (Mar. 15/19)

Mar 15, 2019
2 min read

A win and the Sting are in. A win is all that the Sarnia Sting need to clinch seventh place in the OHL's Western Conference.

The Sting and Spitfires are currently tied for seventh place with 59 points each. The Sting have a record of 26-32-5-2 and the Spitfires are 25-33-5-4. This is Windsor's final regular-season game and the Sting have three games remaining.

Both teams are in a bit of a slump, with one win in each of their previous five games.

In five games against Windsor this season, the Sting have a 2-3-0-0 record and the Spitfires have won both of their 2019 meetings.

The Sting have made the playoffs each of the previous four seasons, and six times in the past seven years. If they clinch tonight, it will be the first time since 2014-15 that they have had a losing record and made the playoffs. It will also be head coach Derian Hatcher's fourth playoff berth in his four seasons since taking over behind the Sting bench.

Luckily for the Sting, they have had much more success at home than on the road, and the Spitfires have struggled this season when they are away from home. The Sting have a 16-13-2-1 record on home ice, while the Spits 9-19-2-3 on the road this season.

  3. Franco Sproviero: 58 (22 goals, 36 assists)

  4. Mitch Eliot: 53 (16 goals, 37 assists)

  5. Jacob Perreault: 52 (28 goals, 24 assists)

Windsor Spitfires Point Leaders:

  1. Cole Purboo: 55 (29 goals, 26 assists)

  2. Curtis Douglas: 52 (27 goals, 25 assists)

  3. Jean-Luc Foudy: 47 (6 goals, 41 assists)

  4. Daniel D'Amico: 46 (21 goals, 25 assists)
